Let me explain how these work. How to Use Minecraft Color Codes? Following are the steps to change the color of your Minecraft Chat text using color codes. Choose a color code from the ‘Chat code’ column in the table above. Now, use the color code (including the section sign ‘§’) before the text you write in the chat. For example, if you want to write the text in yellow, use “§eThis is my yellow message”. It would like the image below in the actual chat. Isn’t that cool? 😎 But, That’s not over yet! Enters Format Code! There are some format codes as well. Just like the color codes let you change the color of the text, the format codes let you change the format of the text. Extending them to MOTD These color codes and format codes can be extended to the MOTD on server as well. For those who do not know what I am talking about, MOTD is Message of the Day and it is set on the server where you are playing Minecraft. If you run a Minecraft server yourself, you can customise the MOTD with color codes and format codes. These codes are a little different for the MOTD. Instead of using the section sign ‘§’, the hex equivalent \u00A is used. Here’s how you can implement these Minecraft color codes and format codes to MOTD. Choose a color code from the ‘MOTD code’ column in the first table. Now, use the color code before the text you want display as message of the day. For example, if you want to write the MOTD text in yellow, use “\u00AeThis is my yellow MOTD”. For format code, choose desired code from the second table. Now prepend the format code before the MOTD text. To make a bold text, use “\u00AlThis is my Bold MOTD”.
