1998Nearly four decades after he became the first American to orbit the Earth, Senator John Herschel Glenn Jr. is launched into space again as a payload specialist aboard the space shuttle Discovery on October 29, 1998.

Lebron James Makes his NBA Debut
2003On October 29, 2003, 18-year-old basketball prodigy LeBron James scores 25 points, grabs six rebounds and dishes out nine assists, but his Cleveland Cavaliers lose to the more experienced Sacramento Kings, 106-92. His debut is one of the most impressive in league history—only months earlier, James had graduated from high school.

1929Version 0.1 of Mozilla Firefox, a stand-alone open-source web browser, was made available on September 23, 2002. Phoenix was its original name; however, Firefox was eventually chosen after a trademark dispute. Because of its speed, security, and customizable features, Firefox quickly became one of the most widely used web browsers and continues to be so.
