The Reality of Digital Nomads: Chasing Adventure, Finding What?

It’s true that the digital nomad lifestyle varies a lot depending on someone’s financial stability and maturity going into it. Trying to "find yourself" and figure out your career on the road can amplify all the challenges you’ve highlighted—uncertainty, isolation, and burnout. But if you already have a clear purpose and steady income, it’s a completely different experience.

For me, I made a drastic shift. I ran a successful 7-figure real estate firm in Florida and had everything that looked like “stability” on paper. But after burning out, I realized there was more to life than just being “successful.” So, I sold most of my things and embraced a new path: traveling the world and writing. For me, a constant change of environment has been essential, and it’s actually helped me make more meaningful connections. In the past year, I’ve made more friends than in the seven years I spent running my firm.

So, I’d add that it’s important to consider what type of digital nomad someone is, as well as their starting point. For those who have some stability and a clear sense of purpose, this lifestyle can be deeply fulfilling. Great article! It just might benefit from exploring those nuances.

I too had switched to Perplexity as my default search engine for a bit, but ended up with the same thoughts. While I found myself going back to Google for its ability to handle more complex or niche questions (just like you mentioned), Perplexity still impresses me with how it suggests follow-up questions. It’s like an AI-powered brainstorming buddy, which is awesome for diving deeper into topics quickly. But when I needed precision, Google still came out on top.

To answer your question, I found three of my Mastermind groups through recommendations from friends and business partners. The fourth one I discovered from a podcast where the guests were teaching exactly what I wanted to learn.

Finding these groups isn’t too tough. A quick search on Facebook usually does the trick since they’re often advertised there. Another tip is to ask around in your network.

..But the key is getting feedback from current or past members.

I’ve had good luck using Facebook  (again) to connect with people in these groups. People looove talking about their Mastermind experiences, so it’s easy to find them. Just write to 3-5 people, ask about their experience, and it’ll give you a good sense of what to expect.
